The IV Workshop-School on Quantum Computation and Information (WECIQ-2012) will be held in Fortaleza, Brazil, from October 8th to 11th, 2012. WECIQ was established in 2006 to encourage and bring together scientists and engineers working in the interdisciplinary field of quantum information science and technology. The fourth edition of the meeting will be hosted by Federal University of Ceara and its scientific program will include keynote presentations, oral and poster technical sessions, and panel discussions. The scope of the workshop includes, but it is not limited to, the following topics:
- Quantum cryptography
- Quantum communication: technologies and protocols
- Quantum information theory
- Quantum computing: quantum algorithms and complexity
- Technologies for quantum computers
- Quantum codes and quantum error correction
- Entanglement measures

Shuttle from the International Airport to the conference venue will be provided by the organization. Fortaleza, Ceará is located in Northeastern Brazil and is the number one destination of Brazilian tourists. With a population around 3.5M, Fortaleza is a modern, bustling city, with nice restaurants, good shopping, and an alluring nightlife. The local cuisine is diverse with typical dishes such as “baião-de-dois” and “tapioca”. The beaches of Brazil, and specially Ceará, are perhaps the most pristine in the world, and Fortaleza´s geographycal location – three and a half degrees below the Equator - garantees that the sea water is always warm. East and west of the city, the beaches get better. They’re simply stunning.
